After breakfast, we all walked to the Great Synagogue of Jerusalem and it was massive. The place was huge, but gorgeous. They had a full on choir which sounded beautiful. It isn't very far from where we're staying, so it was a pretty short walk. The shul had a humongous stained glass window behind the bima with the burning bush and the letters of the aleph bet. It's been so nice spending shabbat in Jerusalem and it's very different than back home (obviously). Nothing was open (save for the gas station) and there was no public transport. We've been walking everywhere because the hostel is just so close. For those of you parents worried about bed bugs, we've checked thrice and not a single chocha has been seen.
After lunch was visiting times. Some had visits arranged for today, and for those who didn't, we just relaxed in the park. When everyone returned, a man named Neil Lazarus came to talk to us to explain the situation in the Middle East at the moment. It's a bit more complex than we originally thought, and his humour definitely made it more fun.
Time to get to Ben Yehuda Street, stay tuned!
