We've Only Half Begun...

Gabs is getting together a good piece to properly go over the experience with the Israelis, and we will publish that after Shabbat. In the meantime, I will just tell you a few things done today and wish you all a Shabbat Shalom!

We started with some teary good-byes to the Israelis, as Aliza put it, they were "a little watery." Most of them will come by our dinner out tomorrow night, so we will see them soon for a serious goodbye. We spent the morning in Tzfat, where we went into Isaac Luria's synagogue and Joseph Caro's. Fifteenth century stuff, so, as Hadar said, "relatively recent events."

We toured the candle factory, saw a bit of a concert, and went to meet Avraham Lowenthal. He explained about his artwork and how it has to do with the Kabbalah. He spoke about the importance of our Hebrew names. The group listened and said the artwork was interesting, and then it was time for lunch and gift-shopping. After a shwarma, it was back on the bus and over to Har Meron.

You can see Har Meron from Tzfat, and it is said that the Mashiach will make his way to Tzfat from Har Meron, through the valley, and into Tzfat. So it was pretty cool to look back over the valley from the mountain and look back at Tzfat. Finally we made some real headway on a good trip theme song, and finished it up when we got to Kibutz Farod.

The Calgarians led Kabbalat Shabbat and we are excited for our turn next week. Dinner was couscous and veggies and beef and potatoes and humus, all of it lovely. For oneg, we had a nice reflection of the week and a couple of games. For one game, which continues throughout Shabbat, everyone got assigned someone that they have to catch alone. If my mark is alone, I can go up to him and say gotcha, and he's out and I have to get his guy. SO I'm picking out my favourite pictures, hiding from my assassin. I'm excited to see what Gabs has written because their closing discussion with the Israelis showed they cared about each other a lot and that the experience was very meaningful to them.

We have a relaxing day tomorrow, and Sunday we are headed into a very hectic and exciting week before coming home. Good shabbos!
